the blueberry festival

Prince Oliver learned about the big blueberry festival (the one in the mountains by the big river).
He really wanted to go. Nobody in his neighborhood knew anything about it. So he went to the library and learned more about it. He found out where it was --it was very far. He would need to use a car and drive.

He needed to bring a blueberry food, but he had no blueberries! He only had a thorny rasberry bush out back behind the castle. He decided to be different and try to bring some rasberry pies. He did not know if they would be angry or hapy when they saw the pies.

But where would he get the car?

He went over to farmer Vincent . With a slice of pie.
And he asked if he could use his truck to go to the Blueberry Festival.

mmmmm... he said. You can use my truck, but with strings attatched.

If you are going to the mountains, you have to take Billy. He LOVES the mountains.

Prince Oliver wasn't sure what to do. He really wanted to go to the festival, but he really didn't like Billy. That goat had really wrecked his weekend when he trashed Farmer Vincent's house.

OK, he said. I'll take Billy to the mountains.

And so he did.

And on the way up to the Festival, he looked in the back of the truck, there were his seven pies, and Billy.

He looked back later, and what did he see? Billy had eaten one pie already, and started on another! He pulled over the truck and let Billy out to eat some grass. He used some rope to tie up the pies in the boxes.

Finally, they got to the Festival. The judges looked at his pies and they were not angry. They found them very tasty indeed. He got a ribbon --and he got a special plate and fork. That allowed him to be a judge too, and to try everybody's blueberry creations.

It was a wonderful weekend and his belly was full of blueberries. He was so full, he could barely go walk up the mountain with Billy.
