the creaking rooftop

One day Prince Oliver learned from his friend about a lemonade store. It was near the library.
He got directions, but they were difficult. His friend told him a shortcut --he had to go down the spooky alley.

Why is it spooky?

Because of the creeeaaaaking noise.

That doesn't sound so scary he thought. I'll just investigate and find out what it is.
PO was not afraid.

And so one day, after he went to the library for some new books about Origami, he decided to try and find the lemonade store.

He found the spooky alley, and went down. Sure enough, there was a very spooky creaking sound. He couldn't tell where it was coming from.

He saw a ladder on the side of a building. He decided to go up and see if he could look down and find the sound. When he climbed up, he heard the sound before him.

There were 3 boxes with blankets over them and the sound was coming from one of them.

He lifted up the blanket and there it was: an old parrot saying creeeeaaaak.

That wasn't so scary?! So he got a few breadcrumbs from his backpack and the bird made a much different creaking sound. Short and happy creak.

Just then, he heard a gruff voice. Who is that, what are you doing up here trespasser?! The man was very big and scary -especially because of his one big glove that covered his arm up to his elbow.

I'm Prince Oliver he said. I wanted to know the sound, and here it is. Is this your bird?

The man was big, but was nice enough after he found out PO was not a robber.

I am Lionel, and these are my birds. I have the old parrot Pedro, my homing pigeons and i'm waiting for my hawk to come back.

Is that why you have a big glove?

Yes, i use it for Hernando because his claws are so big and powerful.

Lionel's passion was his birds. He loved them. He loved to watch them, and he loved to take care of them. He had a regular job, and PO asked him what it was.

I run a lemonade store. But we sell cupcakes too.

I have another job that is with the birds too. I send messages with the pigeons.

If old Hilda wants something, she sends a message with my pigeon to her sister Blanche. THe pigeon goes to her house.

When Blanche sees the pigeon, she says don't poop on my window!

But the pigeon says, i'm not here to poop, i'm here to give you a message. Take it off my leg because i can not.

And when she does, the pigeon flies off; he always comes back to Lionels roof.
